A fashion lover's dream haute couture takes over The Louvre

Walking through the Louvre is always a moment, but this time—it was pure fashion magic. Tucked inside the Objet d’art/Arts Décoratifs Department (Level 1), in between gilded antiques and historic treasures, was a jaw-dropping display of high-end couture. This exhibition celebrates the genius of Yves Saint Laurent, Schiaparelli, Versace, Balenciaga, Erdem, Chanel, Mugler, Thom Browne, and many more bringing their most iconic looks from the ’60s, ’70s, and beyond into a breathtaking dialogue with history.

Seeing these legendary designs in the midst of art history? Genius!

The way each outfit was positioned within the room made it feel as though the Renaissance décor itself was part of the exhibition—the curtains, ceiling frescoes, and intricate floor patterns seemed to celebrate and sing in harmony with the vintage couture pieces placed among them. The placement made every gown, suit, and silhouette feel like a masterpiece in its own right—proving once again that fashion is art.

I could stand there for hours, mesmerized by each piece, taking in the sheer brilliance of their construction. The precision of the tailoring, the choice of fabrics, and the overall excellence conceived over 50 years ago still felt impossibly modern. It was a reminder of why these designers are considered legends, their vision so ahead of their time.

And here’s the real tea: this isn’t just any exhibition. It’s leading up to Paris’s first-ever MET Gala-style event, a major fundraising affair that’s set to be one for the books. But hurry—this fashion-meets-art dreamland is only on display until July 2025.

If you’re a fashion lover or just appreciate a stunning archive moment, this is a MUST for your Paris itinerary. PSA: The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays, so plan wisely!

Trust me, this is one exhibit you don’t want to miss.
